Top 8 Social Media Sites of 2015 2015-07-24 If there’s one thing that never changes in the social media world, it’s that change is inevitable. New sites appear faster than popcorn popping in a microwave. Many of them disappear into obscurity just as quickly. Existing sites try new features and discard those that aren’t working, seeking to evolve into one-stop destinations for members. This constant change affects how I engage with various social sites, and likely does for you as well. While I’ve written about the sites that I am active on in the past, I thought it might be interesting to start an annual mid-year tradition of listing sites which I am currently using. I understand that others’ derive benefit from sites that I haven’t listed here and I think that’s great. We all get to use social in our way, so this is merely a list of sites and apps that I personally find useful. Since most lists are nothing more than someone’s opinion, this list is my opinion. Discovered: Vintage World Wide Web video clips

6 Vintage TV Clips Reveal the Web of the Past   It’s hard to believe that it’s been twenty years since I registered my first domain name. The year was 1995, and after having been on dial-up services for 15 years, I heard about this new thing called the World Wide Web. After attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that January, I knew that I had to create this thing called a website. I had been publishing an ezine featuring software reviews and setting up a website seemed like the next logical step. The domain I choose was called WorldVillage.com, and it featured family-friendly content which included software reviews, related articles and online games (primitive though they were.) I recently discovered an old VHS tape in my WorldVillage and early online-business memorabilia box. I discovered a way to digitize the content and have uncovered a number of vintage television clips that featured me or my site. What was it like in the early years of the web and what did I have to say about it? Being Human in the Digital Age   In the last 10 years, technology has changed the way we engage and interact more than in any other period of time. Mobile and social have connected us in ways we never imagined possible. While there have been many advantages to the advances we are experiencing, there are also many dangers. How do we use the power of social and mobile in a way that maintains and enhances our humanity?
