Hiya My,
A number of people have written and texted me today to let me know that my subject line of the previous email didn't make any sense.
"How I lost 55 months in 6 months"
Did Joel age rapidly? Is this Benjamin Button? Or does he just have a bad proof-reader?
Okay, this is what I get for composing emails at 1 am.
I am the proof-reader. And I make mistakes. (more often than I'd care to admit, thank you very much...)
The correct headline to match the podcast should have been "How I lost 55 POUNDS in 6 months"
So as long as I am emailing you to acknowledge my flawed humanity, I may as well extract a lesson from it.
1) Even confusing headlines can lead to clicks. Perhaps I should do a test with a headline that says "Flow chicken every fantastic chocolate" and see what happens?
2) Mistakes give you an opportunity to make things right. Nothing says "I'm human" like having a chance to say "I screwed up!"
3) Making things right provides you with an opportunity to reframe your message. This one looks lovely in a brass 8" x 10", don't you think? (I think the sheer ridiculousness of the previous headline has made me a little punchy.)
Ok, so there you have it. Forgive me, please?
Oh, by the way. I added a new feature on my blog. If you'll visit any of my articles, you'll see a little microphone on the right side with the text "Send a voicemail to Joel". If you click it, you can do just that! So comments, questions, or if you want to be on my podcast, you can use that to send feedback.
Do good stuff!
Joel
